The History of the Party

As we celebrate the 250th birthday of America, Party Reflections is taking a look back at The History of the Party.
Before there were venues located in the heart of every major city, America had ‘Assembly Rooms’. In the late 1700s, Assembly Rooms were the heartbeat of society, purpose-built spaces designed for fostering connections, debating, and most importantly, celebrating. While the language has shifted, the goal remains the same: bringing people together for a moment that feels truly significant. We hope to keep the spirit of the party alive by bringing our customers quality event rental inventory for their biggest moments in life.
We know that parties have always existed, but what did parties in the late 1700’s look like?
The Federal Style was the dominant post-Revolutionary aesthetic, and it was all about symmetry, refined elegance, and delicate ornamentation.
Silversmithing was a respected, luxury trade, so incorporating silver in your tablescape is a great way to echo the craftmanship of this era.
Early American gatherings were defined by a shift toward refined, artisanal craftsmanship, favoring delicate, hand-printed patterns and natural, tactile textures that emphasized warmth and hospitality. Color palettes were dominated by softer neoclassical colors like cream, sage, rose, and gold.

The Art of Gathering
We believe that every event, from a birthday party to a wedding, is an opportunity to contribute to the legacy of the party. In an increasingly digital world, the act of gathering in person is a powerful, timeless statement. Our mission is to provide the canvas for these connections, ensuring that whether you are hosting a team of twenty or a ballroom of five hundred, your event is defined by the quality and intentionality that your guests deserve.
